Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 3.19% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT), which rose 9.59% or 0.280 points to trade at 3.200 at the close. Meanwhile, Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) added 8.96% or 0.060 points to end at 0.730 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was up 8.62% or 0.200 points to 2.520 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which fell 1.38% or 0.30 points to trade at 21.50 at the close. Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) declined 0.43% or 1.00 points to end at 229.00 and Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) was up 0.60% or 0.10 points to 16.81.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 65 to 16 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) rose to 3-years highs; up 9.59% or 0.280 to 3.200. Shares in Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) rose to 52-week highs; rising 8.96% or 0.060 to 0.730. Shares in Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) rose to 52-week highs; rising 8.62% or 0.200 to 2.520. Shares in Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 0.60% or 0.10 to 16.81.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.59% or 1.01 to $64.58 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.84% or 0.58 to hit $69.78 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.27% or 3.50 to trade at $1322.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.52% to 430.560, while USD/NGN fell 0.14% to 360.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 91.64.
