Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 1.68%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which rose 10.19% or 19.70 points to trade at 213.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) added 9.91% or 0.210 points to end at 2.330 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was up 9.46% or 0.140 points to 1.620 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which fell 0.24% or 0.05 points to trade at 20.70 at the close. Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) declined 0.24% or 0.10 points to end at 41.90 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) was 0.00% or 0.00 points to 10.85.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 55 to 35 and 16 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.14% or 0.75 to $64.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.48% or 0.36 to hit $75.02 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1302.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.76% to 423.630, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 361.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 93.59.
