Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Banking and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 10.00% or 0.290 points to trade at 3.190 at the close. Meanwhile, Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) added 10.00% or 0.140 points to end at 1.540 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) was up 9.84% or 0.120 points to 1.340 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT), which fell 2.06% or 0.080 points to trade at 3.800 at the close. Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) declined 2.00% or 30.00 points to end at 1450.10 and Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) was down 0.67% or 0.30 points to 45.95.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos by 47 to 43 and 12 ended unchanged.
Shares in Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) rose to 3-years highs; rising 9.84% or 0.120 to 1.340.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.74% or 1.14 to $64.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.16% or 0.80 to hit $68.40 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.04% or 0.60 to trade at $1339.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.35% to 448.360, while USD/NGN rose 0.14% to 360.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 89.03.
