Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which rose 9.90% or 2.05 points to trade at 22.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) added 8.82% or 0.90 points to end at 11.10 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 5.71% or 0.040 points to 0.700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which fell 6.69% or 12.70 points to trade at 177.00 at the close. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) declined 2.63% or 0.20 points to end at 7.35 and Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) was down 2.59% or 0.15 points to 5.65.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 47 to 45 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.69% or 12.70 to 177.00.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.55% or 0.39 to $70.38 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.86% or 0.68 to hit $78.72 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 2.60 to trade at $1210.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.41% to 425.470, while USD/NGN rose 0.14% to 362.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.58% at 93.57.
