Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 5.00% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.050 at the close. Meanwhile, Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 2.85% or 1.14 points to end at 41.08 and Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) was up 2.56% or 0.40 points to 16.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which fell 4.74% or 12.00 points to trade at 241.00 at the close. Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) declined 4.17% or 0.25 points to end at 6.05 and Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) was down 1.96% or 1.07 points to 53.43.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 45 to 29 and 22 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.68% or 0.86 to $50.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.32% or 0.75 to hit $56.19 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.50% or 6.44 to trade at $1295.34 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.26% to 426.730, while USD/NGN fell 0.14% to 356.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 92.91.
