Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN), which rose 2.86% or 0.43 points to trade at 14.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) added 1.50% or 0.09 points to end at 6.09 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) was up 1.26% or 15.00 points to 1219.99 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which fell 5.00% or 2.20 points to trade at 41.80 at the close. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) declined 4.39% or 1.14 points to end at 24.85 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) was down 2.42% or 0.55 points to 22.35.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos by 44 to 29 and 20 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.32% or 0.65 to $49.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.69% or 0.38 to hit $55.54 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.19% or 2.57 to trade at $1330.57 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.03% to 430.730, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 354.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 92.21.
