Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 4.76% or 2.00 points to trade at 43.97 at the close. Meanwhile, Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) added 3.46% or 39.80 points to end at 1190.00 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was up 1.25% or 0.17 points to 13.71 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which fell 4.17% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.150 at the close. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) declined 3.64% or 0.020 points to end at 0.530 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was down 2.89% or 1.19 points to 41.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos by 36 to 32 and 22 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.70% or 0.82 to $49.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.29% or 0.70 to hit $54.97 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.33% or 4.44 to trade at $1328.26 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.77% to 430.880, while USD/NGN rose 1.27% to 359.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.56% at 92.40.
