Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which rose 7.57% or 0.95 points to trade at 13.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 4.77% or 2.05 points to end at 44.80 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) was up 1.58% or 0.030 points to 1.920 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which fell 5.46% or 10.00 points to trade at 173.00 at the close. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) declined 5.06% or 4.00 points to end at 75.00 and Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) was down 2.73% or 0.30 points to 10.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos by 53 to 33 and 17 ended unchanged.
Shares in Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.46% or 10.00 to 173.00. Shares in Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.06% or 4.00 to 75.00.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 2.54% or 1.86 to $71.31 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 2.74% or 2.28 to hit $80.81 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 2.66% or 31.70 to trade at $1225.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.95% to 421.540, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 363.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 94.83.
