Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which rose 4.62% or 0.03 points to trade at 0.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 4.35% or 0.050 points to end at 1.200 and Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) was up 3.02% or 1.70 points to 56.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which fell 4.00% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.720 at the close. Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) declined 3.51% or 0.04 points to end at 1.10 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was down 0.76% or 0.05 points to 6.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 18 to 17 and 50 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.36% or 0.61 to $45.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.40% or 0.66 to hit $47.92 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.38% or 5.15 to trade at $1348.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 2.19% to 354.040, while USD/NGN rose 0.16% to 315.500.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 95.01.
