Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 5.69% or 2.15 points to trade at 39.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) added 3.08% or 38.84 points to end at 1290.00 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) was up 1.28% or 0.31 points to 24.41 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN), which fell 3.82% or 0.65 points to trade at 16.35 at the close. Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) declined 2.99% or 4.00 points to end at 130.48 and Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) was down 2.17% or 4.99 points to 225.01.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos by 41 to 30 and 24 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) rose to all time highs; rising 3.08% or 38.84 to 1290.00.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.71% or 0.97 to $57.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.69% or 0.43 to hit $63.00 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.69% or 8.90 to trade at $1290.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.20% to 422.850, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 360.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 93.43.
