Netlist (OTC:NLST) has secured a $445 million damages award in a patent infringement case against Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU), including its subsidiaries Micron Semiconductor Products and Micron Technology Texas LLC.
The verdict, delivered by a jury in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, pertains to two of Netlist's patents.
The infringing products were all Micron DDR4 RDIMMs and DDR4 LRDIMMs.
The verdict confirmed that Micron willfully infringed on both patents, necessitating monetary damages to Netlist for infringement from April 2021 to May 2024 for the 912 patent and from August 2021 to May 2024 for the 417 patent.
C.K. Hong, CEO of Netlist, emphasized the significance of the verdict, stating, "This verdict marks the second time in just over a year that a jury has found willful infringement of our patents by a global semiconductor manufacturer. The $445 million awarded underscores the immense value of Netlist's technology and the importance of protecting intellectual property."
