Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Construction, Technology and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI gained 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE), which rose 3.08% or 0.08 points to trade at 2.68 at the close. Meanwhile, IHH Healthcare Bhd (KL:IHHH) added 1.92% or 0.11 points to end at 5.83 and PPB Group Bhd (KL:PEPT) was up 1.25% or 0.20 points to 16.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB), which fell 1.44% or 0.09 points to trade at 6.15 at the close. Telekom Malaysia Bhd (KL:TLMM) declined 1.35% or 0.10 points to end at 7.30 and British American Tobacco (M) Bhd (KL:BATO) was down 1.04% or 0.72 points to 68.28.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 59 to 43 and 2 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.48% or 0.27 to $56.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.66% or 0.41 to hit $62.91 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.31% or 3.70 to trade at $1205.00 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.55% to 2.7195, while USD/MYR fell 0.53% to 3.6545.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 98.73.
