Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Property and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI gained 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Malayan Banking Bhd (KL:MBBM), which rose 1.53% or 0.14 points to trade at 9.29 at the close. Meanwhile, YTL Corporation Bhd (KL:YTLS) added 1.21% or 0.02 points to end at 1.67 and Sime Darby Bhd (KL:SIME) was up 1.01% or 0.09 points to 9.03 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Axiata Group Bhd (KL:AXIA), which fell 0.90% or 0.06 points to trade at 6.62 at the close. Genting Bhd (KL:GENT) declined 0.67% or 0.06 points to end at 8.86 and IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) was down 0.47% or 0.02 points to 4.20.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 272 to 199 and 38 ended unchanged.
Shares in Axiata Group Bhd (KL:AXIA) fell to 52-week lows; down 0.90% or 0.06 to 6.62. Shares in IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) fell to 52-week lows; falling 0.47% or 0.02 to 4.20.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.20% or 0.12 to $58.83 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.24% or 0.16 to hit $65.38 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.19% or 2.30 to trade at $1184.50 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.07% to 2.7004, while USD/MYR fell 0.20% to 3.5932.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 94.77.
