Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction, Mining and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI gained 1.37%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB), which rose 3.52% or 0.54 points to trade at 15.86 at the close. Meanwhile, Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB) added 3.46% or 0.18 points to end at 5.38 and Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM) was up 2.89% or 0.12 points to 4.27 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hong Leong Bank Bhd (KL:HLBB), which rose 0.15% or 0.02 points to trade at 13.58 at the close. DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM) added 0.19% or 0.01 points to end at 5.40 and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) was up 0.31% or 0.02 points to 6.41.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 307 to 260 and 39 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.81% or 0.88 to $47.64 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.24% or 0.66 to hit $52.65 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.73% or 8.00 to trade at $1080.70 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.18% to 2.7805, while USD/MYR fell 0.08% to 3.8278.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 97.53.
