Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction, Property and Plantation sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI gained 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Maxis Bhd (KL:MXSC), which rose 3.03% or 0.20 points to trade at 6.79 at the close. Meanwhile, Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR) added 1.67% or 0.05 points to end at 3.05 and MISC Bhd (KL:MISC) was up 1.46% or 0.12 points to 8.32 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB), which fell 1.40% or 0.22 points to trade at 15.44 at the close. Tenaga Nasional Bhd (KL:TENA) declined 1.34% or 0.16 points to end at 11.78 and Genting Bhd (KL:GENT) was down 1.19% or 0.10 points to 8.29.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 276 to 272 and 44 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tenaga Nasional Bhd (KL:TENA) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.34% or 0.16 to 11.78.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.23% or 0.10 to $45.84 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.22% or 0.11 to hit $50.10 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.48% or 5.20 to trade at $1085.50 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.16% to 2.8001, while USD/MYR rose 0.10% to 3.8768.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 98.20.
