Investing.com -- On Tuesday, Lululemon Athletica Inc (NASDAQ:LULU) said it will enter the footwear industry, with a focus on women's footwear.
Blissfeel, the company's first running shoe, will be released on March 22nd and be the first of the four launches throughout the year.
The other three styles, also expected to launch in 2022, include Chargefeel, Restfeel, and Strongfeel. Lululemon said the initial launch of Blissfeel will be available online and in select stores across North America, Mainland China, and the United Kingdom.
Men's footwear is also expected to launch in 2023.
"Footwear is the natural next step for us to expand and apply our long history of innovation in fit, feel and performance, and it represents an exciting moment for our brand," said lululemon CEO Calvin McDonald. "We are entering the footwear category the same way we built our apparel business—with products designed to solve unmet needs, made for women first."
Lululemon stock is currently down 1.3%.
