Investing.com - London Stock Exchange Group PLC (L:LSE) (LSE) confirmed on Tuesday reports that it is involved in merger talks with Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn) as shares in both exchanges surged.
LSE commented in a statement that the boards of both companies are in “detailed discussions about a potential merger of equals of the two businesses”.
The plan foresees Deutsche Boerse shareholders holding 54.4% of the merged company with LSE shareholders retaining 45.6%.
Shares in LSE skyrocketed 17.94% to 2,719 pence, while Deutsche Boerse jumped 5.42% to €80.48.
