The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Telecom Italia (BIT:TLIT), which rose 4.06% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Moncler SpA (BIT:MONC) added 2.38% or 1.22 points to end at 52.58 and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (BIT:BMPS) was up 1.88% or 0.13 points to 6.94 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nexi SpA (BIT:NEXII), which fell 1.13% or 0.06 points to trade at 5.42 at the close. Saipem SpA (BIT:SPMI) declined 0.84% or 0.02 points to end at 2.72 and Banco Bpm SpA (BIT:BAMI) was down 0.74% or 0.06 points to 7.81.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 273 to 259 and 42 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (BIT:BMPS) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.88% or 0.13 to 6.94.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.73% or 0.54 to $74.10 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.77% or 0.59 to hit $76.89 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.73% or 19.24 to trade at $2,666.64 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 108.29.
