Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Chemicals, Travel & Leisure and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 1.60%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Mediaset SpA (MI:MS), which rose 2.05% or 0.052 points to trade at 2.592 at the close. Meanwhile, Italgas SpA (MI:IG) added 0.51% or 0.026 points to end at 5.136 and Recordati (MI:RECI) was up 0.35% or 0.10 points to 28.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Saipem SpA (MI:SPMI), which fell 6.55% or 0.2300 points to trade at 3.2800 at the close. Freni Brembo SpA (MI:BRBI) declined 3.70% or 0.35 points to end at 9.11 and Unipol Gruppo Finanziario Spa (MI:UNPI) was down 3.15% or 0.112 points to 3.438.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 279 to 79 and 27 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.69% or 0.87 to $50.60 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.75% or 0.45 to hit $59.83 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.63% or 7.80 to trade at $1249.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.1350, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8995.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 96.562.
