Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Chemicals, Financials and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Mediaset (MI:MS), which rose 3.23% or 0.086 points to trade at 2.752 at the close. Meanwhile, Recordati (MI:RECI) added 1.84% or 0.47 points to end at 26.00 and A2A (MI:A2) was up 1.29% or 0.015 points to 1.181 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which fell 10.55% or 2.3000 points to trade at 19.5000 at the close. Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MI:PMII) declined 4.32% or 0.0160 points to end at 0.3540 and Saipem (MI:SPMI) was down 4.27% or 0.0194 points to 0.4351.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 178 to 157 and 19 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.34% or 0.68 to $51.52 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.63% or 0.34 to hit $54.23 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.91% or 10.65 to trade at $1161.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.74% to 1.0538, while EUR/GBP fell 0.75% to 0.8378.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.60% at 101.72.
