Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Utilities and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 rose 1.00%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Intesa Sanpaolo SpA (MI:ISP), which rose 5.18% or 0.113 points to trade at 2.284 at the close. Meanwhile, Unione di Banche Italiane SpA (MI:UBI) added 4.74% or 0.1550 points to end at 3.4240 and UniCredit SpA (MI:CRDI) was up 4.07% or 0.5080 points to 13.0000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT), which fell 5.41% or 0.0300 points to trade at 0.5250 at the close. Mediaset SpA (MI:MS) declined 3.39% or 0.087 points to end at 2.479 and STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) was down 2.46% or 0.435 points to 17.280.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 198 to 161 and 32 ended unchanged.
Shares in Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT) fell to 5-year lows; losing 5.41% or 0.0300 to 0.5250. Shares in Mediaset SpA (MI:MS) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.39% or 0.087 to 2.479.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.11% or 0.08 to $69.88 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.05% or 0.04 to hit $78.19 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.74% or 8.90 to trade at $1197.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.1572, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.9020.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 95.44.
