Investing.com — IBM (NYSE:IBM) is to acquire telco consulting services and solutions provider Sentaca, the company announced Tuesday.
Sentaca, based in Boston, has a team of technology consultants across the U.S. and Canada that build and migrate applications on leading cloud service providers and open-source platforms like Red Hat OpenShift and OpenStack.
The company will join IBM Consulting's Hybrid Cloud Services business to work with their clients on cost-of-ownership, monetization, scalable and secure architecture, and address opportunities including 5G, Internet of Things, and streaming.
"The proliferation of mobile devices, wireless connectivity, and new media platforms is driving convergence among telco, media, and entertainment, which makes our acquisition of Sentaca all the more valuable for our clients," stated John Granger, Senior Vice President, IBM Consulting.
IBM shares are up 0.34% around midday.
Just over a week ago, IBM reported its fourth-quarter earnings beating both revenue and earnings expectations.
