HK stocks set to rise 0.4 pct; Wharf, China Unicom up

HONG KONG, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Hong Kong stocks were set to open slightly higher on Thursday, recovering a little of Wednesday's losses, after Wall Street eked out gains in light volume on positive news out of Europe.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index <.HSI> was set to open 0.38 percent higher at 21,169.82. The China Enterprises Index <.HSCE> was indicated to open up 0.41 percent at 11,824.89.

Property conglomerate Wharf (Holdings) Ltd <0004.HK> were set to start up 2.1 percent after reports that it had succeeded in bidding for a luxury residential site in Shanghai's Pudong district for 4.828 billion yuan ($710.6 million). (Reporting by Vikram S Subhedar; Editing by Chris Lewis)
