HONG KONG, Oct 18 (Reuters) - Hong Kong stocks slipped 1.21 percent on Monday in its biggest single-day percentage loss in about six weeks, as HSBC <0005.HK> and Chinese insurers led the slide.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index <.HSI> closed down 288.25 points at 23,469.38, its lowest close in the last three trading sessions. The China Enterprises Index <.HSCE> of top locally listed mainland stocks was down 1.42 percent at 13,420.32.
Turnover was HK$98.32 billion ($12.7 billion), compared with HK$123.34 billion in the previous session.
Shanghai's key stock index <.SSEC> closed down 0.5 with volume at its highest in at least 10 years. (Reporting by Donny Kwok; Editing by Ken Wills)
