Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Chemicals and Retail sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 1.55%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which rose 11.76% or 0.012 points to trade at 0.114 at the close. Meanwhile, National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) added 11.11% or 0.02 points to end at 0.20 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) was up 11.11% or 0.015 points to 0.150 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jumbo SA (AT:BABr), which fell 3.56% or 0.390 points to trade at 10.570 at the close. Grivalia Properties REIC (AT:GRIr) declined 3.48% or 0.25 points to end at 6.94 and Iaso (AT:IASr) was down 2.89% or 0.012 points to 0.403.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 53 to 33 and 8 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.08% or 14.45 to $1355.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.95% or 0.39 to hit $41.53 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.56% or 0.24 to trade at $43.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.94% to 1.1181, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8414.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.28% at 95.45.
