Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Basic Resources and Food sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 0.80%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Alpha Bank (AT:ACBr), which rose 11.11% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.090 at the close. Meanwhile, Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) added 5.88% or 0.060 points to end at 1.080 and Euro Reliance (AT:EREr) was up 5.71% or 0.08 points to 1.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which fell 8.11% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.102 at the close. Intrakat (AT:INCr) declined 7.53% or 0.035 points to end at 0.465 and Frigoglass (AT:FRIr) was down 4.12% or 0.08 points to 1.86.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 51 to 33 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in Centric Hold (AT:DESr) fell to 3-years lows; down 8.11% or 0.009 to 0.102.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.56% or 6.40 to $1133.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.55% or 1.16 to hit $44.25 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.16% or 0.57 to trade at $48.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.70% to 1.1237, while EUR/GBP fell 0.63% to 0.7346.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 95.86.
