Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Retail and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which rose 10.00% or 0.0800 points to trade at 0.8800 at the close. Meanwhile, Halcor (AT:XAKO) added 9.96% or 0.026 points to end at 0.287 and Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr) was up 7.76% or 0.009 points to 0.125 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Reds (AT:CAMr), which fell 10.00% or 0.041 points to trade at 0.369 at the close. Euro Reliance (AT:EREr) declined 2.30% or 0.040 points to end at 1.700 and Iaso (AT:IASr) was down 1.71% or 0.007 points to 0.403.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 57 to 31 and 15 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.44% or 6.00 to $1354.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.48% or 1.16 to hit $47.95 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.34% or 0.67 to trade at $50.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1330, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.8610.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 94.30.
