Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Technology and Basic Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 12.50% or 0.019 points to trade at 0.171 at the close. Meanwhile, National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) added 9.09% or 0.02 points to end at 0.24 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was up 9.04% or 0.063 points to 0.760 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Autohellas (AT:AUTr), which fell 6.80% or 0.76 points to trade at 10.41 at the close. Iaso (AT:IASr) declined 5.45% or 0.024 points to end at 0.416 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) was down 4.07% or 0.012 points to 0.283.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 54 to 35 and 12 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.78% or 9.80 to $1267.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.04% or 0.78 to hit $37.51 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.58% or 1.06 to trade at $40.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.33% to 1.1146, while EUR/GBP rose 0.65% to 0.7802.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.79% at 96.42.
