Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Construction and Travel sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 1.42%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Jumbo SA (AT:BABr), which rose 4.27% or 0.96 points to trade at 23.46 at the close. Meanwhile, National Bank of Greece SA (AT:NBGr) added 4.13% or 0.31 points to end at 7.92 and Domiki Kritis SA (AT:DKRr) was up 4.09% or 0.14 points to 3.43 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Biokarpet Industrial and Commercial Enterprises SA (AT:ALBr), which fell 12.83% or 0.29 points to trade at 1.97 at the close. Cars Motorcycles and Marine Engine Trade and Import Company SA (AT:MTDr) declined 3.30% or 0.09 points to end at 2.64 and Alumil (AT:ALMr) was down 1.04% or 0.03 points to 2.86.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 79 to 37 and 18 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.75% or 18.70 to $2,489.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.00% or 0.78 to hit $77.57 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.47 to trade at $80.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.39% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.41% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 102.17.
