Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Telecoms and Retail sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 1.32%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which rose 10.17% or 0.012 points to trade at 0.130 at the close. Meanwhile, Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) added 4.17% or 0.100 points to end at 2.500 and Creta Plastics (AT:PLAKR) was up 4.07% or 0.250 points to 6.500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr), which fell 8.43% or 0.021 points to trade at 0.228 at the close. Select Textile (AT:EPIr) declined 6.21% or 0.010 points to end at 0.151 and Korres (AT:KRRr) was down 3.23% or 0.150 points to 4.500.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 80 to 30 and 11 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.61% or 7.60 to $1249.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.65% or 0.37 to hit $56.77 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.07% or 0.68 to trade at $62.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1763, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.8799.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 93.86.
