Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Construction, Travel and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.41% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Metlen Energy & Metals AE (AT:MYTr), which rose 2.79% or 0.92 points to trade at 33.92 at the close. Meanwhile, Piraeus Port (AT:OLPr) added 1.94% or 0.55 points to end at 28.95 and National Bank of Greece SA (AT:NBGr) was up 1.80% or 0.15 points to 8.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA (AT:ELHA), which fell 3.45% or 0.08 points to trade at 2.10 at the close. Papoutsanis Industrial and Commercial of Consumer Goods SA (AT:PSALr) declined 2.39% or 0.06 points to end at 2.45 and HELLENiQ ENERGY Holdings SA (AT:HEPr) was down 2.34% or 0.18 points to 7.52.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 68 to 55 and 17 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.78% or 21.39 to $2,727.31 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.89% or 1.46 to hit $75.93 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.53% or 1.24 to trade at $79.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.15% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.03% at 108.08.
