PARIS, Sept 3 (Reuters) - French power group GDF Suez and Eletrobras, Brazil's state-owned electricity holding company, have formed a partnership to develop energy projects in Central and South America and Africa. The agreement includes joint research, project development, and energy production and transmission ventures in renewable energy and other energy sources, GDF Suez said in a statement on Friday.
"With its very high demand for energy and strong potential for renewable energies, Latin America is a key market for GDF Suez," the French company said.
GDF Suez is already Brazil's largest private energy producer and also has operations in Chile, Peru and Panama, while Eletrobras is the largest electricity company in Latin America, GDF added. (Reporting by James Regan; Editing by Michael Shields)
