California-based electric vehicle maker, Fisker (NYSE:FSR) released new details on their upcoming Alaska Super Sport electric pickup truck Thursday.
The new electric truck is described by management as the “everything vehicle”, with sporty handling and driving dynamics combined with luxury SUV comfort. The Fisker Alaska will be offered with two battery packs -- 75 kWh and 113 kWh -- that will offer a range of 230-340 miles and is expected to boast a 0-60mph acceleration time of 3.9 to 7.2 seconds.
The interior of this 17.4 ft. vehicle will showcase a big gulp cupholder, the world’s largest, a cowboy hat holder, cockpit storage for work gloves, a large center armrest with storage for flashlights and pens, and a passenger tray with a tablet holder.
“Alaska breaks with convention,” chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker said. “It doesn’t fit into any current segment, as it combines features of a mid-size pickup with the capabilities of a full-size thanks to its innovative expandable bed design.”
The bed of the Alaska is ingeniously designed to adjust its size, ranging from 4.5 to 7.5 feet. This versatility is made possible by the incorporation of a Houdini partition discreetly positioned behind the rear seats. This partition can be electronically lowered, capitalizing on the space created by the battery layout within the FM31 platform. To safeguard the Houdini door, a flip-up panel serves as protection.
The truck’s bed capacity can be further expanded to 9.2 feet by lowering the powered liftgate and folding down the rear seats. In this configuration, additional measures are in place to ensure the safety and integrity of the rear seats. Fold-up panels are strategically placed, including one that folds up behind the front seats.
Production of the new, highly advanced four-door pickup truck is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025.
