Shares of electric truck builder, Nikola (NASDAQ:NKLA) fell more than 7% after the automaker reported Friday that a fire broke out at the company’s Phoenix, Arizona headquarters. The company suspects foul play as the cause behind the incident, which resulted in damage to several trucks but fortunately caused no injuries.
"Foul play is suspected as a vehicle was seen in the area of the affected trucks just prior to the incident and an investigation is underway," the company said in a tweet.
According to a tweet from the Phoenix Fire Department, hazardous materials crews responded to the fire at Nikola's Phoenix headquarters. The tweet included a video showing the incident, revealing that at least three trucks were affected by the fire. Though, Nikola did not immediately respond to a request on the number of affected trucks.
The company's stock has been on the rise this month with the share price doubling since June 1 on no apparent fundamentals. However, the company last week announced layoffs and a sharper focus on the North American marketplace.
Shares of NKLA are down 7.6% in mid-day trading on Friday.
