FRANKFURT, April 11 (Reuters) - The CEO of Germany's biggest construction group Hochtief said he would step down on Monday, just days after he had told a newspaper he would be comfortable staying on despite past differences with predator ACS.
Herbert Luetkestratkoetter will be succeeded by Frank Seiler, who joined Hochtief just two years ago.
Following are some facts about Stieler:
Professional life and career:
* Frank Stieler, born in 1958, studied law at Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt where he obtained his doctorate in 1985
* From 1999 to 2001, Stieler was senior vice president at Houston-based Azurix, a subsidiary of U.S. energy supplier Enron, which went bankrupt in late 2001
* From 2001 he was responsible for the Industrial Application division at German engineering conglomerate Siemens . In 2008, Stieler was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Siemens Oil & Gas Division
* He joined Hochtief in March 2009 and has, up until now, been in charge of the group's Europe division
Private interests and personality:
* Stieler is the father of four sons and one daughter
* He has worked for many years in the Ruhr-district in northwestern Germany, but his family lives near Frankfurt
* Like Luetkestratkoetter, Stieler is a hobby athlete with a particular passion for long-distance running. He never takes the elevator, preferring instead to climb the three flights of stairs up to his office every morning
* He speaks fluent English and likes reading English novels in his spare time
* A spokesman for Hochtief described him as a very personable individual, who is a good listener and says what he thinks
* The spokesman added that his managerial style may differ from his predecessor's in some respects, but that there would certainly be no U-turn in the management (Reporting by Josie Cox; Editing by Jon Loades-Carter)
