Investing.com - Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) said Friday that fewer people were affected by a recent cyber attack than the company had first indicated following an investigation into how hackers exploited a security vulnerability on its platform.
"We now know that fewer people were impacted than we originally thought. Of the 50 million people whose access tokens we believed were affected, about 30 million actually had their tokens stolen," Facebook said in an online post.
This comes after the company revealed in late September that nearly 50 million Facebook accounts were compromised by an attack that gave hackers the ability to take over users' accounts.
Shares of Facebook extended their decline following the news and were off about 1%.
