Facebook rolling out sponsored Messenger ads, expands as destination for all advertisers
META
-
  • Messenger had been tested as an ad destination (i.e. News Feed to Messenger) before and now becomes an option to all advertisers.
  • Facebook (FB +1.2%) is also now targeting the monetization of conversations started in the manner through new sponsored message features. For example, a conversation that had been started and remains open in Messenger, is fair game for a business to sponsor updates, promotions, reminders or other messages within. The value, Facebook notes, is the 1:1 communication between users and businesses that results.
  • As the company looks to navigate projected slower revenue growth on an anticipated lessened ad load factor, expect further experimentation with and introductions of new ad products and methods across the company's platforms to come.
  • Introducing Messenger Platform v1.3 and New Ways to Drive the Conversation
