Investing.com -- Graphjet Technology (NASDAQ:GTI), a Malaysia-based producer of artificial graphite and graphene from biomass waste, said on Monday it had obtained three ISO certifications for its eco-friendly manufacturing processes, marking a significant step in its sustainability efforts.

Malaysia-based Graphjet Technology on xday said it had obtained three ISO certifications for making graphite and graphene from biomass waste, in an eco-friendly manufacturing process, marking a significant step in its sustainability efforts.

The certifications - ISO 14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 - were awarded by ARES International and cover the production of graphite and graphene from palm kernel shells and other biomass residues.

The certifications validate the company’s compliance with global standards, which is expected to improve its market access, cost efficiency and sustainability, and operational efficiency, the company said in a statement.

“These certifications provide third-party validation of our technology and demonstrate to our customers and other stakeholders the opportunities ahead for our green graphite production process. As we continue to scale, we aim to meet the growing demand for this strategic material in semiconductors and electric vehicle batteries,” said CEO Aiden Lee.

Graphjet highlighted a newly awarded patent that solidified its competitive position in producing graphite and graphene from palm oil processing waste.

Additionally, the company is also pursuing patents in the United States to expand its leading global IP position.
