CAIRO, March 23 (Reuters) - Egypt's military-backed government approved a draft law on Wednesday to punish some protests and strikes with prison sentences and fines, the cabinet office said.
"The government is working on a new policy to deal with employment and wages and in this context the cabinet has approved a draft law that would penalise some cases of protest and strikes," the cabinet said in a statement.
It said the government had also agreed a draft amendment to a law that would open the way for new parties to be formed. (Reporting by Dina Zayed)
