Investing.com -- Walt Disney Company (N:DIS) will recall about 10,000 Darth Vader and Disneyland 60th anniversary infant bodysuits, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a release on Tuesday afternoon.
The two one-piece outfits, also known as "onesies," are being recalled due to a choking hazard they pose to young children. The outfits, according to the U.S. CPSC, close with three snaps that could potentially detach and become hazardous to infants. No deaths or injuries have been reported.
The Disneyland 60th anniversary infant bodysuits have a light blue body with royal blue sleeves and trim and are sold in four sizes: 6M, 12M, 18M and 24 M. The front of the one-piece outfit also contains artwork with figures of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto with an outline of the Disneyland castle in the background.
The Dark Vader onesie, meanwhile, contains a gray body with black sleeves and trim. The body suit's front includes an image of a young Darth Vader holding a light saber alongside the text: "If you only knew the power of THE DARK SIDE."
The bodysuits were sold at a handful of Disney-owned venues, including: Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. and the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif. The onesies were also sold at select shops on Disney's fantasy cruise line for a 10-month period through November, 2015.
In August, Disney recalled a number of its themed gadget pencil cases amid concerns that the two magnets holding the container's lid could detach, providing an ingestion hazard to children. When the two magnets are swallowed, they have the potential to link together inside a child’s intestines, according to the CPSC, resulting in serious internal injuries.
Shares in Disney lost 0.11 or 0.12% in after-hours trading to 93.83. Disney is expected to report its earnings for the first quarter of fiscal year 2016 in early-February.
