BEIJING, Sept 16 (Reuters) - A Chinese magazine has withdrawn a story from its website that quoted a senior Sinochem Corp executive talking about a potential bid for Potash Corp.
Caijing magazine's deputy editor Ma Ke told Reuters the story had been retracted, but gave no explanation.
The story, which was published in Caijing's print edition as well as on the website, quoted Han Gensheng, a vice president with Sinochem who is in charge of the group's overseas deals, as saying a bid would not be a good deal for Sinochem but it might consider other assets of the world's biggest fertiliser maker.
Sinochem was not immediately available for comment on the report.
Last month, BHP launched a $39 billion hostile bid for Potash Corp, which has called the $130-a-share bid "grossly inadequate". (Reporting by Zhou Xin and Tom Miles; Editing by Lincoln Feast)
