(Reuters) - South Carolina's Charleston International Airport was evacuated early on Friday morning after police said they found and examined a suspicious package, but it reopened less than two hours later.
"Expect lines as we work to get (your) travels under way today," the airport tweeted in announcing that it had resumed normal operations.
The airport did not immediately report what the package was.
"Please check your flight status with your airline," the airport said. "Thank you for your patience."
The report of a suspicious package at 5:23 a.m. local time forced the entire airport to be evacuated as authorities investigated the situation, a dispatcher at the Charleston Police Department said.
