Investing.com - Shares in Caterpillar surged higher in premarket trade on Tuesday after the world's largest heavy machinery manufacturer reported third quarter earnings and revenue that beat analysts’ expectations.
Caterpillar reported third quarter earnings per share of $1.95 on revenue of $11.4 billion.
Analysts had expected EPS of $1.27 on revenue of $10.65 billion.
The company also raised its 2017 revenue forecast for the third time this year.
Caterpillar shares were up 7.12% ahead of the opening bell.
