Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Investment Trust, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Construction & Engineering sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL), which rose 20.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.600 at the close. Meanwhile, Associated Motor Finance Company PLC (CM:ASSO) added 16.78% or 71.40 points to end at 497.00 and Commercial Development Company PLC (CM:COMD) was up 12.41% or 10.30 points to 93.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Arpico Finance Company PLC (CM:ARPI), which fell 15.34% or 29.90 points to trade at 165.00 at the close. Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC (CM:SWAR) declined 11.76% or 0.200 points to end at 1.500 and EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR) was down 8.81% or 116.90 points to 1210.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 94 to 69 and 46 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.29% or 0.65 to $51.01 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.34% or 0.69 to hit $52.13 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.68% or 8.45 to trade at $1255.45 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.28% to 212.140, while USD/LKR rose 0.02% to 145.880.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 93.71.
