LONDON, Oct 19 (Reuters) - Bob Dudley, the new Chief Executive of BP, has told employees that safety performance is to be the company's sole yardstick in awarding bonuses in the fourth quarter, the oil major said on Tuesday.
The measures come as BP tries to restore its reputation after its Macondo well in the Gulf of Mexico caused the United States's worst ever oil spill.
Other oil companies have linked staff bonuses to safety in the past and BP said last month it was reviewing its system of incentives for employees.
