GABORONE, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Workers at the Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB), the diamond-trading unit of De Beers, resumed work on Monday after a two-week strike.

Company spokesman Kago Mmopi confirmed to Reuters in a telephone interview the union had suspended the strike while negotiations were under way.

"The union advised us that they would be suspending the strike for now and negotiations will continue over the salary adjustments. But we can't say with certainty whether they will resume the strike again or this is the end of it," he said.

DTCB is is jointly owned by the diamond-mining giant De Beers and the government of Botswana, the largest diamond producer in the world.

"Over 200 workers were on strike for two weeks, so obviously we would expect some impact on production but we can't quantify it at the moment," Mmopi said.

"Output would have definitely been affected as only 33 workers were working during the strike period." (Writing by Gugulakhe Lourie; editing by Andrew Roche)
