NEW DELHI, May 5 (Reuters) - Bharti Airtel Ltd , India's top mobile phone carrier, has earmarked as much as $3.1 billion in capital expenditure for its various operations in this fiscal year that started on April 1, a senior official said on Thursday.
Bharti, which earlier reported a bigger-than-expected 31.5 percent fall in quarterly profit, plans $1.5 billion capital expenditure for India and South Asia business excluding mobile towers, said Manik Jhangiani, group CFO at the mobile operator's parent Bharti Enterprises.
The company sees Africa capital expenditure at $1 billion to $1.2 billion, while tower business investments are seen at $400 million in this fiscal year, he said. (Reporting by Devidutta Tripathy; Editing by Ranjit Gangadharan)
