Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 2.13% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 3.66% or 0.78 points to trade at 22.07 at the close. Meanwhile, ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 1.09% or 0.118 points to end at 10.964 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 1.06% or 0.46 points to 43.98 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which fell 5.82% or 6.70 points to trade at 108.45 at the close. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) declined 5.77% or 2.50 points to end at 40.82 and Argen-X (BR:ARGX) was down 5.58% or 3.40 points to 57.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 87 to 28 and 11 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.00 to $1192.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.05% or 1.54 to hit $73.42 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.73% or 1.47 to trade at $83.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.44% to 1.1540, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8738.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 95.08.
