Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Utilities and Construction & Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.53% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb), which rose 0.16% or 0.090 points to trade at 54.780 at the close. Meanwhile, UCB (BRU:UCB) added 0.02% or 0.01 points to end at 65.59 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BRU:GBLB) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 72.54 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were KBC (BRU:KBC), which fell 3.26% or 1.950 points to trade at 57.930 at the close. GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ) declined 2.51% or 0.42 points to end at 16.30 and Proximus NV (BRU:PROX) was down 1.91% or 0.60 points to 30.77.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 116 to 54 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.51% or 0.42 to 16.30.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.13% or 1.50 to $1166.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.54% or 1.41 to hit $54.11 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.26% or 1.97 to trade at $58.35 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.1082, while EUR/GBP fell 0.66% to 0.7093.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 96.26.
