Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.51% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI), which rose 0.48% or 0.41 points to trade at 86.19 at the close. Meanwhile, UCB (BR:UCB) added 0.18% or 0.14 points to end at 77.64 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) was up 0.18% or 0.20 points to 110.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which fell 4.61% or 2.24 points to trade at 46.35 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 3.34% or 3.140 points to end at 90.760 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) was down 2.79% or 1.12 points to 39.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 74 to 25 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in UCB (BR:UCB) rose to 52-week highs; up 0.18% or 0.14 to 77.64.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.47% or 17.60 to $1183.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.54% or 2.37 to hit $64.67 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.62% or 1.90 to trade at $70.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1341, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8931.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 96.62.
